Quotes that help my day

Quotes that help my day:

“Fairy tales are more than true, not because they tell us that Dragons exist but because they tell us that Dragons can be beaten.”   Neil Gaiman

“Once you learn to read you will be forever free.”      Frederick Douglas

“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”    Cicero

“I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book” J. K. Rowling

“There is no friend as loyal as a book.” Hemingway

“Books are the treasured wealth of the World.”  Thoreau

“Books are uniquely portable magic.” Steven King

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies.” George R. R. Martin

“Never trust anyone who hasn’t brought a book with them.” Lemony Snicket / D. Handler

“A book is a dream you hold in your hands.” Neil Gaiman

I learned to read from comic’s and cheap paperback novels the school gave away on free book day. In High School, I once woke up during an English class and asked a Shakespearean question the instructor said don’t worry about that just go back to sleep. In High School I worked on the weekends and often on weekday nights, my real education was not in public education but in the books, I’ve read. I was probably possessed by the disease referred to in the 1800’s as Bibliomania, a love for books and the knowledge they shared with me. Stories of knights on long trips in the backseat of Mom’s car to books on theology/philosophy and business during my high school years. A customer of the diner where I washed dishes gave me my first Bible, “The Way” and a projectionist at Dad’s theatre gave me my first copy of “das Kapital” by Marx.  I’ve never been a fast reader but I remember most of what I’ve read until age and time fades it away. Jefferson said, “I cannot live without books” and so books and thoughts of books have made up much of my life.
